The Butler Area School District now has a date for when the former Middle School/Junior High facility will be sold.
The Butler County Court of Common Pleas has set a public hearing date for March 6th at 11 a.m. when a judge will decide which offer is most beneficial to the district and the community.
According to an update from Superintendent Dr. Brian White, a total of four prospective purchasers have informed district administrators of interest in the property.
The district currently pays about $200,000 per year in utility costs to maintain the vacant structure and it would cost an estimated $2 million to completely demolish the building.
The district is still planning on holding an open house for at least part of the facility sometime before the sale to allow community members to bid a fond farewell to a school that shaped generations of learners.
