Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale won the National League Cy Young Award last night. Sale, who was also the NL Comeback Player of the Year, received 26 of 30 first place votes from the Baseball Writers of America. Philadelphia’s Zach Wheeler received the other four first-place votes. Pirates rookie Paul Skenes finished third in the voting.
Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers was a unanimous winner of the American League award. It is just the third time in MLB history that two left-handed pitchers won the Cy Young in the same season.
