In a recent study of the most popular drinking songs conducted by whiskey retailer Flask & Barrel, AC/DC was the runaway choice in the rock category. The Australian hard rock legends scored three of the top five rock songs in the study, which analyzed over 23,000 drinking-themed playlists on Spotify, and narrowed down the results by genre. AC/DC’s party anthem, “Thunderstruck,” was the No. 1 drinking song in the rock category, joined by the band’s other hard rocking hits “Highway to Hell” at No. 2, and “Back in Black” at No. 4.
The study’s list of Top 5 rock drinking songs is rounded out by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” at No. 3, and the Eagles’ “Hotel California” coming in at No. 5. According to the study, hip-hop was the most popular genre of choice when drinking. Usher’s “Yeah!” (featuring Lil Jon & Ludacris) was No. 1 on the hip-hop drinking songs list.
