The Seneca Valley softball team defeated Norwin 4-3 in eight innings Friday to win the WPIAL Class 6A championship. Kyle Staudt led the Raiders with four hits in four at-bats, and had the winning walk-off single. Seneca Valley will open the PIAA tournament today when they visit McDowell at 2pm.
The loss for Norwin became extra bitter despite earning two upsets to reach the league final. The WPIAL only receives one entry to the state tournament in Class 6A.
In the Class 5A First Round today – Armstrong will host Latrobe at 4pm.
The North Catholic baseball team will meet Fleetwood this afternoon in the Class 4A PIAA First Round. The game will be played at Seneca Valley high school beginning at 4:30pm.
Moniteau will face Seton-LaSalle in the Class 2A First Round at Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair beginning at 4pm.
