Cartoons have taught us that bears are big fans of honey and picnic baskets. But how do they feel about heavy metal? Wildlife rangers in Golden, Colorado found out first hand, as they tried a unique method to try and get a stubborn bear to leave a tree in a family neighborhood by blasting the metal anthem, “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath, at top volume. Rangers with Colorado Parks and Wildlife Northeast Region tried to get the sleepy, lethargic bear out of the tree with a variety of techniques, including spooking it with a drone and trying to annoy him with loud music, all to no avail.
“When you’re out on a bear stakeout, you think it’s going to be all action,” wildlife officials wrote via X. “We wait until nighttime and the bear finally comes down when almost all humans are gone. Black bears don’t mind Black Sabbath,” they ultimately concluded. (Consequence of Sound)
