The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-4 last night in the opening game of their four-game series at Wrigley Field. The Pirates took a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an Edward Olivares two-run home run. Starting pitcher Jared Jones earned his third win of the year, allowing three earned runs over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven. David Bednar earned his ninth save of the year with a perfect ninth inning.
The Bucs and Cubs play again today at 2:20pm. Paul Skenes will make his second career start for the Pirates. Pre-game on WISR begins at 1:55pm.
