Butler’s Drew Griffith won the WPIAL Class 3A 1,600-meter run in a record-setting time at the individual championships Wednesday at Slippery Rock University. Griffith ran the event in a meet-record time of four minutes, 3.22 seconds. He also ran a winning leg of the 3,200 Relay Team event. The events continue today after storm delays.
Butler’s Orein McBride-Cager won the High Jump in a leap of 6-feet, five-inches. Ayden Davis won the Triple Jump. Aaron Stebick was runner-up in the 400. The Butler boys 400-Relay team has a runner-up performance.
Freeport’s Michael Braun was third in the Class 2A 1,600-meter run.
On the girls side:
–Lauren Bowden of Butler won the 300 Hurdles in Class 3A. Aubrey Rock won the Pole Vault. North Catholic won the 400-Relay.
–In Class 2A – Freeport’s Makenzie Magness won the Pole Vault. Knoch’s Ava Santora was the runner-up in the 1,600-meter run. Her teammate Kara Fennell was runner-up in the Triple Jump.
