With the delivery of a $5 million grant, bids are expected to go out next fall for the Brush Creek Watershed project.
While touring the Brush Creek Watershed facility, Congressman Mike Kelly signed the $5 million-dollar check to upgrade hydraulic presses at the Cranberry Township-based sewer system.
According to Cranberry Township Manager Dan Santoro this is an infrastructure project that benefits residents directly.
“It’s a return on investment for taxpayers and ratepayers of Cranberry Township and surrounding communities that are users of this treatment facility,” Santoro said. “It’s a return on that investment to help make upgrades to this system.”
According to Santoro, he believes the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will approve the design for upgrades later this fall.
Then he expects bid to go out and work to begin shortly after.
The construction will take two years and Santoro says it should be complete by the end of 2026.
The Brush Creek Watershed also services portions of Pine, Marshall, and New Sewickley Townships.
