Butler Senior High School will be hosting a job fair today starting at noon, going until the end of the day and employers will be looking for more than just some summer help.
With over 80 employers and armed service members, the hiring employers that may stand out the most are the 23 manufacturers looking for high school graduates. Butler Senior High School teacher Suzanne Robinson, who helped organized the job fair, says that the district is focusing on opportunities for students who decided to not pursue higher education.
“Parents and students are kind of realizing that college and college debt isn’t for everybody and that there are really good paying jobs out there right out of high school,” Robinson said. “It’s something we want to focus on at the school district as well, because we have a lot of opportunity in Butler County.”
Robinson also organized the fair with another Butler Senior High School teacher, Christine Davis, and both were surprised at the fantastic jobs available in the county.
“This was the first year that Mrs. Davis and I did this. And to be honest with you, we didn’t know about all the good jobs, but our students definitely didn’t.”
Students looking for a job were asked to fill out a common application similar to when students apply for college. They did this in hopes of landing an interview the day of the job fair.
