The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Texas Rangers 6-4 last night at PNC Park. Tucapita Marcano hit a grand-slam home run for the Pirates and starting pitcher Luis Ortiz earned his first major league win. Ortiz went 7-2/3rds innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Marcano was joined by Andrew McCutchen and Bryan Reynolds with two hits each. The Rangers made the game close with a two-run home run off closer David Bednar in the ninth inning.
The Pirates are now tied with Milwaukee again for first place in the National League Central Division after the Brewers were pounded by Houston 12-2 last night.
The three-game series continues tonight at 6:35pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:10pm. Rich Hill will start for the Bucs.
