Butler junior runner Drew Griffith had an amazing performance at the 2023 Indoor Track & Field Nationals last week in Boston. Drew placed fourth overall, good for All-American status. The time he ran for the 2-mile event was 8:48.01 – which was the third-fastest time in U.S. history for an indoor 2-mile event by a junior.
The time uses in regular high school competition is 3,200 meters – which is slightly shorter. That mark would have been 8:44.95. The Butler school record was set by C.J. Singleton at 9:02.23 when he placed sixth at the National meet in New York City several years ago.
