Kyle Busch won the final race at the Auto Club Speedway in California Sunday, taking the checkered flag for the first time for new owner Richard Childress. Busch won a race for the 19th consecutive season, breaking a tie with Richard Petty for the most consecutive seasons with a victory. It was his fifth win at the track. Chase Elliott was the runner-up followed by Ross Chastain.
It was the final race at the Fontana track, which is going to be re-contructed into a short track. Nascar will not return there next year.
The race was also Kevin Harvick’s 750th consecutive start in the Cup Series, third-longest streak in history. He also made a record 29th start at the Fontana track. Harvick is retiring after this season to start a broadcast career.
Harvick finished fifth Sunday.
