Butler County Community College is receiving federal funding to help with the construction of the new nursing building on campus.
As part of the recent government funding package, BC3 was awarded $500,000 toward purchasing equipment for classrooms and labs in the new Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health.
Officials at BC3 say their investment in a new nursing building is a part of a growing need for nurses in Western Pennsylvania.
The $15 million building, which is named for Victor K. Phillips, is currently under construction on BC3’s main campus.
Sen. Bob Casey voted in favor of the 2023 government spending package, while Rep. Mike Kelly opposed the bill saying that “the way our government rushes to spend taxpayer money without critical oversight is irresponsible. The American people deserve better.”
