As he gets ready to transition to governor next month, the state’s top law enforcement officer recently announced that a settlement has been reached with a company concerning a data breach.
According to PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Herff Jones which produces and sells yearbooks, class rings, caps and gowns, and other graduation memorabilia experienced a data security event.
An investigation in conjunction with the New York Attorney General’s office alleges that the company exposed the payment card information of over 30,000 customers in April of last year.
Under the settlement, Herff Jones will pay $100,000 each to both the PA and NY AG offices. They also committed to strengthening their network security, reforming data security practices, and conducting regular assessments of computer systems.
