A Sarver man is out thousands of dollars following a scam that led him to buy numerous $500 gift cards.
State police say the scammer called a man in his 70s late last week claiming to work for Microsoft. The scammer told the man that his PayPal account was hacked and in order to fix it, he must buy gift cards.
The victim then drove to a couple of stores and bought $3,000 worth of gift cards from Apple and Target.
Police say don’t give information over the phone or buy gift cards for someone you don’t know.
