Butler Township administrators are one step closer to finalizing their budget for the upcoming 2022 year.
A few minor adjustments were made to the preliminary budget during a special meeting earlier this week as Township Manager Tom Knights explains.
The overall budget did increase a little bit. The final proposed budget is $7,948,892. It does represent a 5.3 percent increase over the 2020 budget, but we’re still one percent behind the 2019 budget,” Knights said. “Revenue sources continue to show some rebound, but they’re sluggish.”
This budget still does not include a tax increase but the township is able to afford several large items requested by department heads.
“There were two replacement police vehicles. The primary server that houses all of the justice-oriented software does need to be replace. Public works needs another 550-style dump trucks,” Knights said of the higher cost items. “Those were the biggest items equipment-wise that were contained in the budget.”
This budget is now available for Butler Township residents to review before the commissioners will vote on finalizing the plan later this month.
