A special public meeting is being held in Connoquenessing that centers on a proposed fire tax.
The board of supervisors is hosting the meeting at the Connoquenessing Fire Hall starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Currently, the fire tax is at .5 mils, but some are requesting it to move to three. That would mean on an assessed property of $10,000 the tax would go from $5 to $30 per year.
The fire tax goes toward funding the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company.
