One more person has died locally at Butler Memorial Hospital this week as a result of serious COVID-19 symptoms.
The hospital reported one COVID-related death to the state on Tuesday.
According to the Butler Health System, as of Thursday morning 40 patients were hospitalized at Butler Memorial Hospital with five of those in the ICU. This is one fewer hospitalized as well as one fewer COVID patient in the ICU compared to Monday.
Butler Health System also announced that the organization will comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rule that mandates vaccination for all healthcare workers employed by an organization that participates in those programs. The decision by the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit only applies to OSHA rules.
