Gas prices have remained mostly steady this week both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a penny over the past week to $3.56 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole remained even during that same time at $3.58. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Greensburg at $3.53 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.66 in Mercer.
The average national gas price increased another two cents over the past week to $3.42 which is the highest since September 2014. A continuing increase in gas demand coupled with elevated prices for crude oil have continued to bump up prices at the pump.
