There’s been a significant jump in the county’s COVID death toll over the past week according to Department of Health data.
There were 15 additional deaths in Butler County in the last seven days now bringing the total to 455.
That coincides with a jump in local hospitalizations since the beginning of the week. Butler Memorial Hospital says they are currently treating 50 patients for the coronavirus, with nine in the ICU. There was also one COVID death at BMH on Wednesday.
At the end of September, the number of hospitalized patients (50) and the number of deaths (19) in one month at the Butler Memorial Hospital showed numbers that haven’t been that high since January of 2020.
As for new cases—that number has been holding steady for the last three weeks. There were 840 new cases since last Friday, up just 17 from the week before.
