The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is expanding litter pickup operations through Labor Day.
According to PennDOT, enhanced cleanups are occurring on high traffic roadways where volunteer groups cannot safely help with litter pick up.
Anti-littering messages will appear on electronic message signs across the state over the next several days. The annual Pick Up Pennsylvania event begins September 1st. The state spends about $14 million annually on litter prevention and clean-up efforts.
Visit PennDOT’s website for more information about how to help with anti-littering efforts.
