The Centers for Disease Control and the FDA said this morning that they are recommending a pause on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
They say it’s out of an “abundance of caution” following six cases of a “severe and extremely rare” blood clot developed in patients who took the vaccine. So far, more than 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine has been administered in the country.
Pennsylvania designated the shots for teachers and education workers in the Commonwealth.
At the moment, this would appear not to impact the vaccine clinic at Butler Memorial Hospital as they are administering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
We’re continuing to follow this story and will update as more information develops.
