A local woman involved in the Capitol riot on January 6th has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
The indictment against 40-year-old Rachel Powell of Mercer County—known as the “pink hat lady”—was announced Thursday and included charges of committing an act of violence in the Capitol, obstruction of an official proceeding, and destruction of government property.
Video evidence shows Powell using a battering ram to break a window and shouting directions with a bullhorn. A search of her home found several smashed cell phones along with “go bags” containing ammunition, rope, knives, and throwing stars.
Powell is currently under house arrest and her attorney maintains that she did not physically harm anyone during the attacks on the Capitol.
