Chris Archer is now officially an ex-Pirates. Archer has signed a one-year $6.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays – the same organization the Pittsburgh Pirates sent Tyler Glasnow, Austin Meadows and prospect Shane Baz in exchange for Archer in 2018.
The Pirates announced their non-roster players who have received spring training invitations. Nine of their top 30 prospects who are not on the current 40-man roster will be in Bradenton. Among the names will be infielder Nick Gonzales and right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester, who are the Pirates first-round selections the past two years.
