Butler County Community College will receive a large amount of funding support towards the construction of a new facility in neighboring Armstrong County.
BC3 has been awarded a nearly $1.8 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant from the state along with $250,000 from the Armstrong County general reserve fund, and $220,000 in private commitments.
The new BC3 @ Armstrong facility will be built on the site of the former Ford City Junior-Senior High School which was razed just over two years ago. BC3 @ Armstrong opened in 2015 and currently shares space with Lenape Technical School in Manor Township.
The new facility is expected to cost around $4.5 million and will be able to accommodate a continuing increase of students as well as generate jobs in the Ford City area. Groundbreaking could take place this summer with expected completion by the fall of 2022.
