Cleveland Indians ace Shane Bieber won the American League Cy Young Award last night after leading the majors in ERA and strikeouts, while tying for the major league lead in victories during the pandemic-shortened season. Bieber became just the second player in franchise history to win the A.L. Triple Crown of pitching, joining Hall of Famer Bob Feller in 1940.
Former Indian Trevor Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award – becoming the first Cincinnati Reds pitcher to win the award. Bauer led the N.L. in ERA and helped the Reds to their first post-season appearance in seven years.
