Nascar will hold its annual All-Star race tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway. The race is usually the precursor to the Memorial Day weekend in Charlotte – but was delayed this year because of the coronavirus. Nascar moved the race to Bristol in order to allow some fan attendance. Hear the race tonight on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com beginning at 6:30pm.
A new all-star racing series is being developed by former Nascar Hall of Fame crew chief Ray Evernham and Hall of Fame driver Tony Stewart and will make its debut next year. The Superstar Racing Experience is planning a six-race, short-track series that will air in prime time on Saturday nights on CBS. Similar to the old IROC Series – they will use cars prepared by Evernham and include a select group of 12 drivers on famed short tracks across the country. Evernham, who was the head wrench during front part of Jeff Gordon’s career for Hendrick Motorsports, wants to provide cars that don’t rely on aerodynmaics and reward mechanical grip and driver skill.
