The state Department of Health is reporting seven new COVID-19 cases today for Butler County.
That now brings the total to 302.
This comes after 11 new cases were reported over the weekend.
However, the Butler Health System is reporting a decline in coronavirus hospitalizations. There are six patients being treated for COVID-19 symptoms—with one in the ICU. Hospital officials say that two of those patients are confirmed to have COVID-19; four are suspected to have the virus.
The number of hospitalizations is down two patients since Friday.
“Outbreaks appear to be driven by behaviors – people not wearing masks and not practicing social distancing. Keep in mind that we know how to limit or prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 virus,” Butler Health System Director of Public Relations Jana Panther said in an email.
“Do the right thing. Wear a mask and wherever you are, practice social distancing.”
The state overall reported 492 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths.
The number of coronavirus continues to rise to our south in Allegheny County.
Today, their department of health reported 83 new cases. Although, officials also say that hospitalizations are remaining low in the county.
In response to the uptick in cases, Allegheny County did ban the sale of alcohol for on-site consumption at bars and restaurants; a move that Governor Tom Wolf said was an appropriate response to help contain the virus.
