AAA is recommending that motorists pay special attention for deer on the road as we are in the peak season for deer collisions.
Although the average cost to repair a vehicle damaged by hitting a deer is $3,500, the costs can be much higher and the crashes can result in injury or even death to motorists.
AAA recommends that drivers pay attention to road signs indicating areas of high deer activity, look out for multiple deer when one is observed, and resist the urge to swerve as sometimes that can result in more serious collisions with other objects of vehicles.
Motorists should also consider purchasing comprehensive vehicle insurance as this is the only kind that will cover animal strikes. Anyone who hits a deer should call the police and avoid making contact with the animal.
