A Wheeling man is facing various charges following a series of events that unfolded last weekend in Indiana County.
According to KDKA, 23-year-old Eric Flanary is accused of assaulting his girlfriend last Sunday morning at a home in Armstrong Township.
Authorities say that Flanary was later handcuffed and taken into custody. However, he soon escaped into a wooded area, and police were unable to locate him.
Officials say that later on Sunday; a local woman reported that her shed was on fire. First responders say that when they arrived on scene, they found forced entry into the shed, and a neighboring shed also on fire. They also noticed a handcuff that had been cut by bolt cutters, and that an electric bike was missing.
After searching the area authorities found Flanary and the bike in a nearby garage. Flanary told police he planned to ride the bike back to West Virginia. He was then successfully taken into custody.
