The result of a yearly food collection initiative last month will go a long way to help an increasing number of local community members in need of assistance.
Armstrong’s second annual Avenge Hunger donation drive generated nearly 42,000 pounds of food, over $12,000 in monetary contributions, and over 90 hours of volunteer time.
The goal of Avenge Hunger Month was to increase awareness of Armstrong’s Breaking Bread program which has been helping to stock nearly 220 food pantries and soup kitchens around the area since 2010.
Breaking Bread is a year-round initiative and donations can be dropped off at any time at local Armstrong offices to benefit neighbors in need.
