The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is applying for a large state grant in order to assist city home owners with rehabilitation.
The Authority approved an application for a $500,000 PHARE grant through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund. This money comes from realty transfer tax fees.
If received, this grant would allow for about 24 homeowners in the city’s west end and south side areas to receive up to $20,000 each to address rehabilitation projects at their residences.
The City Redevelopment Authority has applied for PHARE grants in the past but has not been approved. The awards are expected to be announced by the end of December.
