Just days after California passed a bill that will allow college athletes to make money, two Pennsylvania lawmakers are hoping to do the same.
State Representatives Dan Miller and Ed Gainey are sponsoring the bill, called the “Fair Pay to Play Act.” It would allow the student-athletes to be paid for their own name, images, and likeness.
They say it would largely mirror the recently passed California law.
The governing body of college athletics—the NCAA—strongly opposes the law.
