The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-4 last night. Jose Osuna had two hits, both doubles, and drove in three runs to lead the Bucs. Colin Moran and Adam Frazier also had two hits each. Pirates starting pitcher Dario Agrazal allowed just three hits to the Giants, but ran into trouble in the fifth inning, when the Giants scored three runs. Michael Feliz won the game in relief as five relievers tossed scoreless and hitless ball over the final five innings. Felipe Vazquez earned his 27th save.
The Pirates and Giants complete their four-game series this afternoon at 3:45pm. WISR pre-game is 3:20pm.
With his 37th home run of the season Tuesday in San Francisco, Pirates first baseman Josh Bell has joined Ralph Kiner, Willie Stargell and Brian Giles as the only Pirate sluggers to hit 37 or more round-trippers in a sesaon.
Major League Baseball broke the all-time home run record for a season last night. More than 6,100 home runs have been hit – and their are more than two weeks remaining in this season. This year is the second time more than 6,000 home runs have been hit in the league. Four of the top five years have come since 2016.
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated Miami and the Chicago Cubs lost in San Diego for the second straight night. Both are tied for the final National League Wild Card spot. The Pirates head to Chicago following today’s game.
