The biggest event of the year mixing local agriculture, food and fun is back this week.
The 71st anniversary of the Butler Farm Show officially kicks off Monday and runs through Saturday.
The six-day festival will include carnival rides, tractor pulls, a wide variety of vendors and performances, and- of course– lots of delicious fair food.
The event is held at the Butler Farm Show grounds on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Gates open daily at 8:30 a.m. and remain open through 11 p.m.
Organizer Ken Metrick said events like the Butler Farm Show use education to combine the state’s two biggest industries: tourism and agriculture.
“Our goal is to educate and promote agriculture in our community,” Metrick told Butler Radio. “A lot of people don’t realize where their food comes from and how much work it takes to put food on their table.”
Admission is $7 on Monday and $8 the rest of the week, which includes rides and parking. Arena admission is an additional $4.
