Sunday was National Ice Cream Day but state officials want you to continue celebrating.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman are encouraging residents to participate in this year’s Pennsylvania Ice Cream Trail.
It was set up in an effort to support Pennsylvania’s dairy industry. It encourages residents to visit small creameries set up by family-owned farms.
There are no creameries in Butler County on the trail, but there are several in surrounding counties including Betsy’s Ice Cream in Mt. Lebanon, Windy Ridge Dairy in Fombell, and Kerber’s Dairy in North Huntingdon.
Gov. Wolf recently signed the PA Farm Bill, which allocated $5 million in this year’s state budget to Pennsylvania’s Dairy Investment Program to allow farmers to pursue new value-added processing projects.
