A total of 88 disciplinary actions were filed across the state in June for unsafe digging practices- including one in Butler County.
The local violation occurred in February of this year when Marion Township Water mismarked a three inch plastic water main by three feet due to map error. Marion Township Water was fined $750.
A violation that occurred in November of 2018 in Harrisville is being disputed. McMurdy Trucking and Excavating was installing a storm sewer and hit a marked line. The company was fined $1,000.
State law requires contractors and residents to contact PA One Call by dialing 8-1-1 at least three business days before an excavation so utilities can mark where lines are located.
