Local veterans are invited to sharpen their green thumbs.
The Butler VA Health Care System will host four free gardening workshops for vets this month. The workshops will be hands-on and educational.
The VA says all supplies will be provided for each workshop, and veterans will be able to take home what they work on.
Vets must register for each workshop before attending. Space is limited and will be granted on a fire-come, first-served basis.
The first workshop is next week- Thursday, July 11. All workshops will run from 10 a.m. to noon outside the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center on North Duffy Road in Butler.
Last year, congress directed the VA to create a pilot program to provide veterans with agricultural vocation training and behavioral health care services and treatments. The Butler VA was one of the systems awarded funding to implement this pilot program.
