The South Butler School District is moving ahead with plans to offer two unique new programs to students this fall.
During a meeting Wednesday, the school board approved entering into an agreement with the anti-bullying organization Rachel’s Challenge. Neighboring districts have had success using this program to create an environment of increased kindness in schools, according to officials.
The district will pay $13,000 for a series of Rachel’s Challenge presentations in all four school buildings, which are tentatively scheduled for the second week of September.
On the recommendation of administrators, the school board also approved the creation of a South Butler Unified Indoor Bocce Program. This co-ed after school activity will bring together special-education students- along with general-ed students- on a team that will host at least one event and compete at away competitions.
