The House Finance Committee has approved a bill that would allow Pennsylvania taxpayers to use their tax refund to help veterans.
The bill would provide for a contribution check-off box for the Veterans Trust Fund on Pennsylvania’s personal income tax form.
Representative Jennifer O’Mara sees it as a simple way for people to donate all- or part- of their refunds to help veterans.
“I think it’s a simple solution to allow Pennsylvania taxpayers to directly contribute their own tax refund into the Veterans Trust Fund to help us get more money for veterans,” O’Mara said.
The Veterans Trust Fund provides grants to organizations which help veterans with things like mental health, as well as help for elderly vets.
