A Pittsburgh man has been arrested after he impersonated a West Penn Power employee last month in Clinton Township.
According to the State Police in Butler, 43-year-old Michael Klaus of Pittsburgh went to a Cannon Hill Road residence back on April 17th, and told the resident that he was an employee of West Penn Power. Klaus then installed a faulty electric meter at the residence and left the scene.
Authorities say that the service provider, Central Electric, was not able to monitor the meter following the incident. It is unclear why Klaus installed the meter, or if he targeted any other homes.
Klaus faces charges of theft by deception and theft of services.
