They begin the night two points behind the second place New York Islanders in the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders visit Montreal tonight. Carolina is two points behind the Pens, and host Tampa Bay.

The Pens have called up forward Adam Johnson from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and he is expected to make his NHL debut tonight. The Pens sent down forward Joseph Blandisi and defenseman Juuso Riikola.
