High School Sports:
PIAA Basketball:
–The Butler Boys season came to an end last night with a 77-72 loss to Coatsville. Ethan Morton led the Golden Tornado with 36 points. The Golden Tornado jumped out to a 19-14 first quarter lead, but never recovered from a 19-8 second quarter outburst by Coatsville.
–Kennedy Catholic defeated Pine-Richland 82-63 last night at Slippery Rock University. They will meet WPIAL champion Mt. Lebanon in the PIAA 6A quarterfinals Saturday.
–Chartiers Valley defeated the Slippery Rock Girls 54-35. Hallie Raabe led the Lady Rockets with 16 points.
Friday in the state quarterfinal round:
–The Mars Boys (26-1) will face Meadville (20-6) at Slippery Rock University in the 5A quarterfinals Friday. Tip-off will be 6pm.
(New Castle and Hickory will the other Western Region game at SRU at 8pm. )
–The North Catholic Girls (24-3) will meet Erie Villa Maria (22-3) in the 4A quarterfinals Saturday.
–The AC Valley Girls (21-4) will meet Everett (23-3) at Hempfield high school Friday at 6pm in the 2A quarters.
