The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Boston Red Sox 6-1 Wednesday in Grapefruit League play. Starting pitcher Nick Kingham did not allow a run or a walk in four innings. He retired the first nine batters he faced, before giving up a single to Andrew Benintendi to lead off the fourth. Kingham allowed just two hits while striking out three. The Bucs pounded 14 hits off BoSox pitching. Reliever Richard Rodriguez pitched a perfect sixth inning with a strikeout. He has not allwed a baserunner in two appearances this spring. The Pirates host Baltimore today. The game will be televised on AT&T Sportsnet in Pittsburgh beginning at 1:05pm.
