High School Sports from Thursday:
Boys Basketball:
–Birmingham Prep, California handed Mars their first loss of the season 64-60 in the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. Khori Fusco led the Planets with 17 points.
–Moniteau defeated Karns City 57-45. Ethan McDeavitt led the Warriors with 22. Chase Beighley led Karns City with 15.
–Union downed AC Valley 50-46. Levi Orton netted 20 for the Falcons.
Girls Basketball:
–Butler defeated Pine-Richland 38-33. Julia Gibson led Butler with 12 points.
–Freeport-76 Burrell-44. Madeline Clark scored 31 points for the Yellow Jackets. Sidney Shemanski added 20.
–Norwin defeated Seneca Valley 62-41. McKenna Gross led the Raiders with 18 points.
–North Catholic-91 Highlands-11. Four Trojans scored in double-digits.
–Greensburg Salem-48 Knoch-42.
–Moniteau-58 Karns City-12. Izzy Bair led the Warriors with 14 points, eight steals and four assists.
–AC Valley-68 Union-23. Cami McNany led the Falcons with 15.
Tonight:
–The Butler boys will open section play when they host North Allegheny. Tip-off is 7:30pm. Tyler Friel has the pregame at 7:20pm on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com.

Also yesterday: the Freeport 7th grade basketball team topped the Butler Gold team 41-38. Butler’s Ben Miller had a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Butler dropped to 2-2.
The Mars 9th grade team fell to Moon 60-39. Chris Dvorak led the Planets with 14.
Hockey:
–North Hills-4 Freeport-1. Freshman Paul Zecca scored the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets.
Rifle:
–Butler defeated Mt. Lebanon 799-797. Top shooters with 100’s for Butler: Andrew Arbanas, Riley Rodgers,
Alec Stamm, Taylor Gilliland, Randy Maire, Max Wertz and Dyllan Yarrington.
