Hurricane Irma has made landfall in the state of Florida, with the storm’s northern eyewall nearing the Florida Keys.
As of Sunday morning, Irma was categorized as a Category 4 storm, and is moving northwest at approximately eight miles per hour. The hurricane made landfall just after 9am Sunday.
Wind gusts have reached as high as 130mph, and over 560,000 people (including more than 170,000 homes and businesses) are without power.
Officials say that remnants of Hurricane Irma will impact our area around Tuesday. Rain and strong winds are expected for several days.
