The head of Pennsylvania’s 14 state-owned universities is retiring.
State System of Higher Education chancellor Frank Brogan intends to step down on Sept. 1, a month shy of four years on the job.
The retirement comes as state universities- which include Slippery Rock University in Butler County, Clarion University, Edinboro University, IUP and CAL U- have been plagued with declining enrollment and financial struggles.
