The four college football teams to play for the national championship have been determined.
–Alabama (13-0) will face Oklahoma (12-1) in the Orange Bowl Saturday, December 29th. Alabama defeated Georgia 35-29 Saturday in the SEC championship game. Oklahoma defeated Texas 39-27 in the Big-12 championship game.
–Clemson (13-0) and Notre Dame (12-0) will meet in the Cotton Bowl. Clemson defeated Pitt 42-10 in the ACC championship game Saturday.
The two winners will play in the title game Monday, January 7th.
Ohio State was left out of the playoff despite defeating Northwestern 45-24 in the Big Ten title game.
–Pitt (7-6) was selected to meet Stanford (8-4) in the Sun Bowl December 29th.
–Penn State (9-3) will face Kentucky (9-3) in the Citrus Bowl Tuesday, January 1st.
–West Virginia will meet Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl Friday, December 28th.
The Slippery Rock University football team saw their season end with a 21-17 loss to Notre Dame College in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals Saturday. Running back Wes Hills ran for 154 yards in his final game. He set the single-season rushing mark with 1,714 yards, despite missing three games to an injury. Hills broke the mark previously held by LaMonte Coleman of 1,601 yards set in 1994. The Rock ended their season 11-3.
Notre Dame College improved to 13-0 and advanced into the national semifinals this week against Valdosta State.
Duquesne was eliminated by South Dakota State 51-6 in the FCS second round Saturday.
