A local man is facing charges following a disturbing incident of alleged deliberate electrocution of an animal.
Butler City Police have filed charges against 40-year-old Paul Plakidas of Butler.
It was back on Sept. 1 when officers were called to a home in the 400 block of North Chestnut Street. A woman told police Plakidas was her boyfriend and that she believed he had killed her 7-year-old Maltese.
When police asked an alleged intoxicated Plakidas about the dog, he told officers that it was dead. He also allegedly told police someone had put the dog in a cooler filled with water, and then used a wire to electrocute it to death.
Plakidas also allegedly told officers he had been alone at the house that evening.
Officers located the cooler filled with water and the electrical cable in the basement of the home. They found the dog’s body in a garbage can next to the house.
