WPIAL Boys Soccer Playoffs:
4A First Round:
–Butler defeated Latrobe 3-0. Senior Tate Mohney led the Golden Tornado with two goals, his brother Landon, a freshman, added the other goal. Austin Goepfert was in the net for the shutout. Butler (11-4-2) will meet Upper St. Clair (11-3-2) Thursday in the quarterfinals.
–Pine-Richland-5 Plum-2. Chris Hanlon scored twice for the Rams (11-4-3) who get Canon-McMillan (15-2) in the quarterfinals Thursday.
–North Allegheny was eliminated by Peters Township 1-0.
3A First Round:
–Mars defeated Chartiers Valley 4-1. The Planets improved to 17-1-1 and will meet South Fayette (12-5-1) in the quarterfinals Thursday.
2A First Round:
–Freeport fell to Quaker Valley 6-1.
–Shady Side Academy eliminated North Catholic 3-2.
The first round of the PIAA 2A Tennis playoffs begin today. Knoch will face Westmont Hilltop in Altoona at 1:30pm.
The WPIAL Girls Volleyball Brackets were released last night.
4A First Round:
–Butler will meet Latrobe Wednesday at Norwin. The match begins at 6pm.
3A First Round:
–Knoch will await the winner of tonight’s Preliminary Round match between Ambridge and Albert Gallatin. The Knights will host that First Round match Thursday at 7:30pm.
–Mars will travel to Armstrong Thursday at 7:30pm.
2A First Round:
–Freeport will host the winner of tonight’s Preliminary Round match between Waynesburg-Laurel Thursday at 7:30pm.
–North Catholic will host the winner of tonight’s Burrell-Carlynton Preliminary Round match Thursday at 7:30pm.
Hockey:
–Mt. Lebanon-6 Butler-3.
–Meadville-11 Freeport-1.
